The German Breeders' Association (BDP) attaches great importance to developing fruitful cooperation with the Russian plant breeders and seed producers. Since the mid-90s of the last century BDP representatives have repeatedly visited Russia in order to establish contacts in official and non-government structures, to organize seminars and round tables on various topical issues.
Since 2012, in accordance with the decision of the Bundestag and the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany, the interests of German breeders and seed producers in Russia are represented by a permanent political coordinator responsible for GR, PA and PR activities.
Mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of plant breeding and seed production in Russia and Germany is actively developing in the areas of protection of breeders' rights and selection achievements, improvement of the system of seed certification, variety registration and trials, phytosanitary control and many other areas of mutual interest.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Joint Statement of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of seed production as of 18.01.1013, together with the German-Russian Agrarian-Political Dialogue quite a number of significant events were held both in Russia, and Germany with the participation of senior representatives of the Federation Council, the Russian State Duma, ministries and industry associations of the two countries.
